Tour Your Toilet Tuesday May 18!

Wonder where your water fees go? Find out next Tuesday, May 18, when you can tour the new water reclamation facility. From the City of North Las Vegas:

WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY OPEN HOUSE

North Las Vegas, Nevada – The City’s Utilities Department in partnership with CH2M HILL will hold an open house at the North Las Vegas Water Reclamation Facility construction site.  The $240 million project is scheduled to be complete by May 2011, providing state-of-the-art wastewater treatment.  The project is expected to boost economic development in North Las Vegas, and already has created 500 construction jobs.  It will allow the City to advance and manage its vision of growth, and will extend Southern Nevada’s water resources.
When: Tuesday, May 18, 2010
• Program begins promptly at 10 a.m.
• Tour begins at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Water Reclamation Facility Site on Carey Avenue, south of Nellis AFB
• Located on five holes of what once was the Nellis Golf Course, the U.S. Air Force and the City of North Las Vegas entered into an Enhanced Use Lease Agreement for the project.
Who: City of North Las Vegas, CH2M HILL, Construction Manager at Risk Joint Venture CNLV Constructors II and New-Com, Inc.

    An open house for a facility that isn’t complete yet? Since the topic is about things going down the drain, why not just call it a budget meeting and kill two birds with one stone.
