Nor’Town City Council Votes to Cut Dean Leavitt in Half

The North Las Vegas City Council voted yesterday to reduce the number of City Commission meetings by roughly one-half. (RJ) The official reason for the reduction was to save budget money while there is little going on in the city to plan for. Not that planning’s ever been a strong suit for the city in any case. However, rumors that Council members were secretly jealous that the commission was becoming more entertaining than council, what with the comic stylings of Chair Dean Leavitt, could not be confirmed at the time of this writing.

Eh, don’t bother going out and trying to confirm that at any time, by the way.

Council also adopted the new contract with the firefighters with an interesting vote of 3-2, Robert Eliason and William Robinson voting against. (Sun,RJ) Sadly, history will never know why they did so. Well, maybe “sadly” is the wrong word. You pick one. In any case, Anita Wood and Richard Cherchio seem to be having fun as swing votes.
