Several of our members have requested a discussion about Sexual Predators in our neighborhoods.   We have scheduled a couple of key individuals, Angie Blackwell, Investigative Specialist with Sergeant Ryan both from the North Las Vegas Police Department.  Included will be instruction how you will be able to check the area around your residence and find out who and where they live. Please keep in mind that if neighbors ask who is there you cannot tell them but you can give them the site and they can look it up for themselves.  Between them they ought to be able to answer many questions and also discuss what you can do and can’t do, both are extremely important considerations.

For those that were there at our August meeting you are aware that we have a good discussion about NV Energy’s request to place an additional set of transmission lines through the proposed National Monument site. A week later the NLV City Council instructed our city attorney to draft a letter of oppositions to the request.  As we currently understand it a series of things are going to take place between now and the upcoming Alliance meeting and an update during will be provided at that meeting.

We are expecting one or more of our City Council persons to provide us with the current status of several important items and answer any questions that you might have.

We have enclosed as attachment information provided by our NLV Neighborhood Services Department concerning a seminar for homeowners and community management companies.

Our next Alliance meeting is scheduled for 5:30 PM at the Alexander Library on the 23^rd.

North Las Vegas should also be traveled with caution. The victim, a 51-year-old Las Vegas woman was waiting [...]]]> From the North Las Vegas police:

North Las Vegas, Nevada – Detectives are seeking assistance identifying a suspect who robbed a woman in the parking lot of the Walgreen’s at 4771 W. Craig Rd. on July 21, 2010 at about 8:58 p.m.

The victim, a 51-year-old Las Vegas woman was waiting to be picked up by a friend, when a man drove up in a white Ford Expedition. The man asked the victim if she wanted a ride. When the woman replied she did not, the man exited the vehicle, pulled the woman to the ground, and took her purse.

The suspect is described as a white male adult in his 20s, approx. 5’08″, 225 lbs, with short brown hair, wearing a white ball cap, black tank top, white shorts and white sandals. He has a large tattoo on the upper left arm.

The attached photos are from surveillance footage taken inside and outside the store prior to the robbery. There are very good images of the suspect, his unique tattoo, and his vehicle.

Anyone with information is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555. Tips leading to an arrest or an indictment called into Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.

The main agenda item is “Discussion and/or action regarding the importance of our parks and the need to
preserve and protect them.” This, I have heard from a source I call “Deep Throat,” means something like “the city’s budget continues to shrink and by damn we gotta cut something–hey let cut more pools and parks and park staff.”

That being the case, it might be worthwhile for civic minded Nor’Townies to make the effort to show up and let the Board know what you think. So they can pass those thoughts up to Council.

My name is Frank Taylor and I am the Training Chief for the Fire Department.

Coming in July were are having a Mass Casualty Incident Drill and are in need of volunteers to be accident victims.  The drill will be July 6, 7, 8, 12, 21 & 22, from 8:30 pm to 11:00 pm.  You can sign up for one night or as many as you like.  If you have children ages 14 and up they can sign up as well with your consent.

Council tonight will be considering modifications to plans to fix the ditch right where the accident [...]]]> As I was driving along Simmons between Craig and Lone Mountain this morning, there was a nasty looking car accident right over the outflow ditch. One car was smashed against a wall. Police and firefighters were on the scene.

Fisher was reported missing last month. Police were concerned that he may have been armed and suicidal. (LVSun) Cause of death has yet to be released pending notification of his family.
